The crash closed State Road 48 in Dearborn County Thursday night.
(Dearborn County, Ind.) - A pickup truck hauling a trailer stacked with straw bales was going too fast for a curve when it overturned and struck an two oncoming vehicles in Dearborn County Thursday.
The wreck happened around 9:11 p.m. on State Road 48 near Kaiser Drive, according to the Dearborn County Sheriff's Office.
A 2012 Dodge Ram driven by March Garabrandt, 30, of Stamping Ground, Kentucky, was traveling east on S.R. 48 hauling 300 straw bales on a flatbed trailer, but was going too fast to navigate a curve there, deputies determined. The load of bales shifted, flipping the trailer onto its side and causing it to break free from the truck.
Coming westbound on S.R. 48 were two vehicles: A 2001 Ford F-150 driven by Faith Walker, 61, of Sunman, and behind her a 2014 Ford F-150 driven by Mark Benham, 57, of Aurora. The trailer and load of straw crossed into their paths and collided with both, causing heavy damage.
Deputies say Walker had to be extricated from her wrecked pickup before being transported by Manchester Fire and EMS to Highpoint Health for treatment. Benham was also transported to Highpoint Health with injuries.
Aurora EMS, Indiana State Police, Josh's Towing and Todd's Affordable Wrecker assisted at the scene.
