(Guilford, Ind.) - A Guilford man is accused of attempting to lead Greendale Police on a vehicle chase, until he got caught in a traffic jam.

At least three motorists made 911 calls due to a vehicle driving erratically on U.S. 50 on Saturday, June 29. Greendale Police encountered the vehicle, which was doing more than 100 MPH as it entered Interstate 275.

The driver identified as Nathan D. Jackson, however, sped off instead of stopping for police.

The brief pursuit ended when Jackson encountered construction traffic on I-275 near the Indiana-Ohio state line. That’s where he was taken into custody.

Officers say Jackson was observed with a white substance on his right nostril “which is common to see in persons who snort narcotics into their nose.” He was allegedly found to be in possession of marijuana, Xanax, and a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue.

Jackson was taken to Highpoint Health to be cleared by a doctor before he could be booked into jail at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center.

Jackson, 37, is charged with Resisting Law Enforcement (level 6 felony), Operating While Intoxicated (level 6 felony), Operating While Intoxicated (class A misdemeanor), Operating While Intoxicated (class C misdemeanor), Possession of a Controlled Substance (class A misdemeanor), and Possession of Paraphernalia (class C misdemeanor).
