NWS Confirms Tornadoes In Versailles, Dillsboro

Both tornadoes touched down during the storm on Wednesday, April 8.

(Versailles, Ind.) - The National Weather Service Wilmington, OH confirmed two tornadoes that traveled through Ripley County last Wednesday, April 8, causing significant damage to businesses, homes, trees, power lines and signs. 

During last week's storm, the tornadoes touched down around 10:00 p.m. 

In Versailles, an EF1 tornado touched down on the southwest side of Versailles with maximum wind speeds of 86 MPH. Photos helped to confirm a debris pattern associated with a tornado. Damage between Versailles and Holton indicated straight line wind damage. 

In Dillsboro, an EF0 tornado touched down along Farmers Retreat Road in southeast Ripley County, there was straight line wind damage on the north side of the tornado path with maximum wind speeds of 70 MPH. 

It is unconfirmed whether the damage just west of the Dearborn County line was caused by straight line wind or tornado.  

There were no fatalities or injuries reported during this storm. 

Reported findings were supported by assistance from Ripley County Emergency Management and Versailles Fire Department.
