Grades are based on performance in preventing infections, medical errors, injuries and other harms to patients in their care.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - St. Elizabeth Dearborn was awarded an ‘A’ from The Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2021 Hospital Safety Grade. This is a national distinction recognizing St. Elizabeth Dearborn’s achievements in providing safer healthcare and protecting patients from harm by meeting the highest safety standards.

The Leapfrog Group is a national watchdog organization dedicated to improving healthcare quality and safety measures. The Safety Grade assigns an ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’ or ‘F’ grade to all general hospitals throughout the country and is updated every six months. It is based on their performance in preventing infections, medical errors, injuries and other harms to patients in their care.

“Patients deserve high quality care delivered in a safe environment,” said Chris Carle, Chief Operating Officer of St. Elizabeth Dearborn. “Receiving an ‘A’ from Leapfrog is an honor that represents the important steps our team takes every day to keep our patients safe and is indicative of the commitment and dedication of our associates.”

“An ‘A’ Safety Grade is a tremendous achievement, of which this community should be extremely proud,” said Leah Binder, President and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I thank the leadership and workforce of St. Elizabeth Dearborn for its commitment to prioritizing patients and their safety, especially during these trying times.”

Developed under the guidance of a national Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses more than 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,700 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Leapfrog Group’s grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
