(Aurora, Ind.) - The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to close State Road 148 for up to 45 days while measures are taken to mitigate a landslide impacting the east-west highway at a drainage structure located 0.6 miles west of U.S. Highway 50.
INDOT officials met with contractor representatives January 22 at Seymour District offices to discuss operations and timelines for the $367,940 slide correction project on the north side of Aurora.
Paul H. Rohe Company requires closure of S.R. 148 on April 15 for excavations to begin that will accommodate a deep rock fill at the slide site. The Aurora contractor will then remove the existing drainage structure and replace it with a 30-inch pipe culvert measuring 53 feet in length.
A state highway detour will be posted, utilizing S.R. 48 and U.S. 50.
S.R. 148 has a traffic count of 3,020 vehicles per day.
