SD PeeWee Football Raising Funds To Replace Stolen Refrigerators

The youth football organization is hoping that the community can help them recover from a costly theft.

(Aurora, Ind.) - South Dearborn PeeWee Football is getting some help after being victimized by yet another theft.

Three commercial refrigerators and a freezer were stolen from the organization on Monday. The appliances were delivered to a parking lot at Aurora Park and were set to be moved into concession stands later that day when somebody came and stole them.

Steve Hamlett, vice president of the youth football organization, believes the job was probably committed by more than one person due to the size of the appliances.

Hamlett says this is the third time the organization has been the victim of a theft in recent years. This case has cost the league thousands.

Now, South Dearborn PeeWee Football is asking for help recovering from the theft. They have started a GoFundMe fundraising webpage to help purchase new fridges and a freezer. In one day, it has reached more than $700 of a $5,500 goal.

If you have any information on the theft of the fridge and freezer, call the Aurora Police Department at (812) 926-1101. Investigators say the theft likely occurred from the parking lot at Aurora Park along U.S. 50 between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 15.
