A record Mega Millions jackpot on the line. The multistate game's grand prize for the Friday, October 19 is up to a whopping $970 million after nobody had all six numbers in Tuesday's drawing. People are also buying up tickets for Saturday night's Powerball drawing with a jackpot estimated at $470 million.
Lottery officials say the Mega Million prize amount crossed over the $900 million mark due to "brisk sales." This makes the sum the second-biggest payout in U.S. lottery history.
Winners can take the cash option, which would now be $548 million, or an annuity, with one initial payment and annual installments over 29 years.
Dreamers of riches can tune in for the drawing at 11:00 p.m.
