UPDATE: Significant Flooding Expected Along Whitewater River

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is advising that the Whitewater River is expected to reach approximately 23 feet around 2:00 AM Thursday morning.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is advising that the Whitewater River is expected to reach approximately 23 feet around 2:00 AM Thursday morning. A flood warning was issued at 4:17pm until August 14 at 7:04am by NWS Wilmington, OH. The flood warning is extended for the Whitewater River at Brookville.

At 22.0 feet, this stage will exceed the FEMA 1 percent flood. Flooding occurs along the river in southern Fayette and northern Franklin Counties, including in Alpine, Nulltown and Laurel. In Connersville, homes between Dora Avenue and the river on the east side of Connersville flood, as well as along Grand Avenue on the south side. Structures flooded in Laurel are mainly along and east of North Franklin Street, with homes south of Commerce Street also flooded.

(West Harrison, IN) - Significant flooding along the Whitewater River is expected this afternoon and evening according to the Dearborn County Emergency Management Agency. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is advising that the Whitewater River is expected to reach approximately 21.8 feet around 2:00 PM today, compared to a normal flood stage of 17 feet.

The river is rising rapidly, and the water is expected to move toward the West Harrison area and impact portions of Northern Dearborn County.

It is advised to stay alert, monitor local weather and emergency updates, and avoid flooded roadways. Turn around, don’t drown.
