The closure was originally scheduled to begin December 19.

(Ohio County, Ind.) - Indiana Department of Transportation contractor 5 Star Company, Inc. plans to close State Road 56 between Hartford Pike and Old State Road 56 for a culvert replacement project.
The closure was previously scheduled to begin Friday, December 19, and has been postponed.
State Road 56 is now anticipated to close in January, weather permitting. Additional schedule information will be provided as it becomes available.
The closure will take place just west of Laughery Creek and is expected to take up to three days, weather permitting. During the closure, motorists should use the official detour route which follows U.S. 50 to S.R. 262 back to S.R. 56.
This project is part of a contract awarded to 5 Star in September 2025. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change
