(Dearborn County, Ind.) – The Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple reports that county residents are receiving calls from people claiming to be a member of the Sheriff’s Office.

The scammer is using a deputy name and claims to have an important legal matter to discuss.

The Sheriff’s Office says some calls were about jury duty and others claim to have a warrant.

The scammer is asking for money to take care of the issue.

Anyone who receives such a call should not send any money because the Sheriff’s Office does not conduct business that way and would never ask for money.
