Scam Reported in Ripley County

Scammers are pretending to be from the fraud department of the Ripley County Sheriff's Department.

(Ripley County, Ind.) - The Ripley County Chamber of Commerce reports that a scam phone call was made to a member business from a blocked number claiming to be with the fraud department of the Ripley County Sheriff's Department. 

The scammer was asking for specific information surrounding financial information. 

"This is a reminder not to give your information to people you aren't familiar with personally. If you are unsure, contact the entity calling on a phone number you have directly," reads a statement from the Ripley County Chamber of Commerce. 

The scam has been reported to the Sheriff's Office.
