INDIANAPOLIS – Safe Passage executive director Cari Kettman has been appointed to the board of the Indiana Coalition to End Sexual Assault and Human Trafficking (ICESAHT).

Kettman is one of six leaders from across the state that were appointed to the board earlier this month.

The board members represent a range of disciplines including business, healthcare, and public service.

Kettman has served as the executive director at Safe Passage since June of 2022, when she took over the position following the retirement of longtime executive director Jane Yorn.

“We are thrilled to welcome these talented professionals and committed advocates to our board of directors,” said Beth White, president and CEO of ICESAHT. “Their deep experience and diverse perspectives will help our organization continue to grow while remaining centered on serving survivors. I’m looking forward to working alongside them, and our current board members, as we continue to move our organization forward, together.”

She is an idea fit for the coalition.

At Safe Passage, Inc., the nonprofit provides help, healing and hope to build a community free of domestic and sexual violence in a six-county region.

According to the ICESAHT, one in three Hoosier women experience sexual assault in their lifetime. Indiana high school girls have reported a high rate of sexual assaults, and at one time, Indiana ranked second in the nation for girls who are raped in high school. Nationally, one in seven women who are raped become pregnant. To learn more, visit www.icesaht.org
