Rising Sun Schools Complete Sixth Summer of Free Camps for Students

The program provides additional learning opportunities, and cuts day care costs for parents.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) – Rising Sun-Ohio County Schools recently finished their sixth summer of free camps for students.

This year, the summer camp averaged over 100 kids per day.

The free program, which is open for all Rising Sun students in Pre-K to Sixth Grade, allowed students to attend field trips on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Some of the trips were to Greendale Cinema, Durbin Bowl, Krohn Conservatory Butterfly Exhibit, museums, and Great American Ball Park for a stadium tour. Students also visited the city pool on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

The free camp program is available for all school breaks (fall, winter, spring), providing additional learning opportunities, flexibility in their parents’ work schedules, and thousands of dollars in savings for daycare costs.

The upcoming Fall break trip schedule features trips to:

  • Central Park Ninja Course
  • West Fork Park
  • Greendale Cinemas
  • Clifty Falls State Park
  • General Custer’s Golf and Gulp
  • Miami Whitewater Park
  • Evans Orchard
  • Niederman Family Farms
  • Shawnee Lookout Park

In addition to the field trip program, students can enjoy free latchkey services every day before school starting at 6:45 and after school until 5:30.
