REPORT: Overdose Deaths Up In Northern Kentucky

The 2017 Kentucky Overdose Fatality Report was recently released by the Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy.

(Undated) - Kentucky overdose fatalities increased in 2017.

According to the 2017 Kentucky Overdose Fatality Report by the Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy, overdose deaths totaled 1,565 a year ago - up from 1,404 in 2016. 

Despite overdose deaths going up, heroin overdoses fell 34 percent from 2016. However, Fentanyl deaths increased 47 percent in 2017.

Locally, Kenton County ranked second for the most overdose deaths per capita. Boone and Kenton counties also ranked in the top five for most heroin-related overdoses, fentanyl-related overdoses and a combination of both.
