Remains Of Missing St. Leon Man Found

John Werner had been missing since February.

(St. Leon, Ind.) - The body of a missing Dearborn County man was found this week in St. Leon.

Dearborn County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 28000 block of Trackville Road on Tuesday around 5:02 p.m. after construction crews located a human skull on the property they were working on.

After confirming that the skull was indeed human, the rest of the remains were located nearby in a tree.

The body was removed and transported to the Hamilton County, Ohio morgue. On Wednesday, the body was identified as John Werner, 44, of St. Leon.

Werner had been missing since February 15, 2021 and was last seen near his residence on Trojan Road, not too far from where the body was recovered.

According to the Dearborn County Sheriff's Office, there doesn't appear to be anything suspicious regarding Werner's death.

"This was a heartbreaking ending for many in the close knit community of St. Leon and the Werner family will be in my thoughts and prayers," Sheriff Shane McHenry said in a news release.
