Priest Involved With Ripley Co. Parish Resigns Amid "Credible" Misconduct Allegations.

Fr. Patrick Doyle resigned on Monday.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - A priest with local ties is off the job following a sexual misconduct allegation.

Father Patrick Doyle resigned Monday, according to the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. Doyle has been the priest moderator at Saint Maurice Church in Napoleon since 2010. He was the pastor at Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Indianapolis.

The 68-year-old's resignation follows a statement from the Review Board for the Archdiocese, which says the claims against Doyle are credible.

The allegation involves an 18-year-old female who was "vulnerable" and "an adolescent when the emotional aspects of the relationship began."

Doyle was suspended from ministry when the allegation was brought to the archdiocese on September 4, leaving the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ Parish in a state of shock.

"The Archdiocese is working with parish leadership to assist the parish through this time of transition and healing and will begin the process for assigning a new pastor," a statement from the archdiocese said.

"The Archdiocese of Indianapolis is committed protecting children and vulnerable adults from sexual abuse and misconduct. If you are a victim of sexual misconduct by a person ministering on behalf of the Church, or if you know of anyone who has been a victim of such misconduct, please contact civil authorities and the Archdiocesan Victim Assistance Coordinator Carla Hill at 317-236-1548 or 800-382-9836, ext. 1548 or email her at carlahill@archindy.org."

Archbishop of Indianapolis Charles W. Thompson has promised to release a list of priests in the archdiocese who have been the subject of substantiated allegations of child sexual abuse. So far, the list has not been made public.
