(Aurora, Ind.) – A portion of Second Street is closed in downtown Aurora.
On Tuesday, the City was made aware of a potential unsafe building condition on the 400 block of Second Street.
Out of precaution, the street and sidewalk has been closed to traffic, while engineers inspect the situation.
City manager Derek Walker says the 400 block of Second Street could reopen as soon as Monday, February 1.
In the meantime, the remainder of Second Street remains open, as does the other half of the 400 block. Traffic will be detoured through alleyways.
The Aurora Public Library and Gambles Furniture remain open during the closure. Patrons can enter Gambles through the rear entrance, while the library is accessible through the alley.
The library will be renewing items over the phone (812-926-0646) during the road closure.
