Police ID Suspect Shot & Killed In Police Involved Shooting

The incident occurred Monday at a home on Bridlewood Trace in Batesville.

(Batesville, Ind.) – The suspect that was shot and killed by law enforcement in Batesville has been identified.

Batesville Police officers were called to a home on Bridlewood Trace Road at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Monday in response to a domestic incident.

While on the scene, police shot and killed Joshua D. Evans, 32.

According to Indiana State Police, Evans barricaded himself within the home four nearly four hours and fired shots from the home on multiple occasions.

When Evans finally came out of the home, he was holding a gun, which prompted three troopers with Indiana State Police SWAT Team and an officer from Greensburg Police to fire shots.

Evans was struck at least once and succumbed to his injuries at Margaret Mary Health.

The names of the officers are not being released at this time as the investigation is ongoing.

An adult woman and three children that were in the home at the time of the incident were not harmed.
