(Moores Hill, Ind.) - An Aurora man was ice cold in his attempt to flee police in his vehicle and then on-foot.

Moores Hill Police say Hugh Gober sped off from an officer during an attempted traffic stop on East Street in Moores Hill around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Police gave chase, following Gober’s vehicle as he ran multiple stop signs. The pursuit reached State Road 350 heading west toward Milan.

Gober drove into Daren Baker Memorial Park in Milan. Officers saw him attempt to maneuver onto a jogging trail, but the vehicle became stuck. Gober ditched his ride and ran off on-foot.

A police K-9 unit from Lawrenceburg came to assist in the search. Gober was soon found trying to hide in a small, chilly body of water at the park. He had to be carried out of the woods by officers before he was transported to an area hospital.

After his hospitalization, Gober was placed under arrest.

Officers say they searched Gober’s vehicle and located a syringe filled with heroin.

Gober is now in jail in Dearborn County charged with Resisting Law Enforcement (level 6 felony), Possession of a Narcotic Drug (level 6 felony), Possession of a Syringe (level 6 felony), and Operating While Suspended (class A misdemeanor).
