Businesses should be extra cautious when dealing with phone orders.

(Vevay, Ind.) – The Switzerland County Sheriff’s Office is warning businesses of a phone scam.
On Thursday, a local business told the Sheriff’s Office they were contacted by a subject wanting to place an order.
Among the items the subject wanted was iTunes cards and requested the store owner send pictures of the cards.
“Anytime a subject requests iTunes cards it’s a red flag that they’re scammers, said Sheriff Brian Morton. “Always be extra cautious when dealing with phone orders or making payments by phone. The scammers have very believable stories so it’s easy to fall victim.”
Morton continued by saying concerned businesses or citizens who believe they are being scammed should not hesitate to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 812-427-3636.
