One Injured in Crash Outside Versailles

According to the Ripley County Sheriff's Office, a dump truck went over an embankment on the south side of the road, causing the driver to be trapped in the vehicle.

(Versailles, Ind.) – First responders were called to an accident on U.S. 50 near Versailles late Friday morning.

According to the Ripley County Sheriff's Office, a dump truck went over an embankment on the south side of the road, causing the driver to be trapped in the vehicle.

Upon arrival, first responders identified multiple utility lines down and two utility poles. Versailles Volunteer Fire Department extricated the driver of the truck as soon as it was deemed safe by the utilities.

The operator of the truck was transported from the scene by Ripley County EMS to Versailles State Park, where he was then flown by helicopter to UC Medical Center.

The extent of injuries is unknown at this time, but the driver was conscious and alert on the scene.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor of this incident.
