One Dead, Nine Displaced In Batesville Fire

The fire broke out just after 1 AM Monday.

(Batesville, Ind.) – At least one person is dead after an early morning fire in Batesville.

Batesville Fire and Rescue responded to the house fire in the 100 block of N. Park Avenue around 1:15 a.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found the two-story home fully engulfed in flames.

“As a result, our community has experienced a fire fatality,” reads a release from Batesville Fire and Rescue.

Batesville Fire and Rescue will not be releasing the name of the deceased at this time. A total of nine residents were displaced in the fire. A cause of the fire is under investigation by the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Batesville Police say the intersection of Boehringer and N. Park Avenue has reopened following the blaze.
