Ohio Voters Establish Constitutional Right to Abortion, Legalize Recreational Marijuana

(Columbus, Oh.) – Ohio voters went to the ballot box on Tuesday to vote on two key issues.

Issue 1 dealt with the right to abortion, while Issue 2 gave voters the opportunity to legalize the use of recreational marijuana.

Both issues passed.

Ohio voters voted to make the right to abortion protected by the state constitution with 2,186,962 votes (57%). Forty-three percent of voters opposed the issue (1,675,728 votes).

The legalization of recreational marijuana passed with similar numbers. A total of 2,183,734 voters, or 57 percent said “yes” to Issue 2, while 1,649,339 voters, or 43 percent opposed the measure.

In Hamilton County, a majority of voters supported passing Issue 1 and 2.

Nearly 65 percent of voters were in favor of Issue 1, while close to 66 percent supported the legalization of recreational marijuana.
