Ohio County 911 Introduces Notification System

(Rising Sun, Ind.) – Whether it’s a wildfire, chemical spill or snow emergency, Ohio County residents can now get emergency notifications sent directly from the local 911 center to their cell phones.

 

Ohio County Communications 911 is urging citizens to sign up for the new Rapid Notify Mass Communication System, said 911 director Joe Teke. The alerts about severe weather, manmade disasters and more can be sent out to thousands of people within seconds via phone, text message, or e-mail.

 

Ohio County phone numbers in the emergency services database are already in the system. That includes most home or business numbers in the county.

 

However, to include your e-mail and up to two additional phone numbers, call the Ohio County Communications 911 Center at (812) 438-2883.
