Ohio Co. Makes Some Changes To Primary Election

There have been changes made to abide by the new restrictions and guidelines.

(Ohio Co., Ind.) - Ohio County is making some changes to make sure voters stay safe and healthy during the upcoming primary election.

With in person voting taking place on June 2 and social distancing guidelines still in place, the polling place in town has been moved to the Rising Sun High School. This will allow voters to cast their vote all while maintaining regulations.

Polling places at the Highway Garage and the Bear Branch Fire Department remain the same.

While voters do have the option to vote in person, the Ohio County Election Board is strongly encouraging everyone to vote by mail for the June 2 Primary Election. Request your mail in ballot by filling out an online application at Indianavoters.in.gov. Click the box that says “Get Absentee Forms.”

You can fill out this application online or by printing it out and filling it in by hand. Once this application is filled out, you can either email it to the Ohio County Clerk at Jstegemiller@ohiocountyin.gov or mailing it to P.O. Box 185 Rising Sun, IN 47040.

Voters can also request an application by calling (812) 438-2610.

Applications must be received by Thursday, May 21.

Ballots must be returned to the Ohio County Clerk's office by the end of the business day Monday, June 1. If ballots are turned in after this date, they will not be counted. This is by State statute.

Request and submit your ballot as soon as possible.

Another change made is regarding early voting. Early voting will begin on Tuesday the 26, and end on Monday, June 1, at noon.

For any further questions, contact the Clerk's Office.
