NWS Issues Wind Advisory, Conditions Bring Elevated Fire Danger

The wind advisory goes into effect at noon today.

(Wilmington, Oh.) – There is an elevated fire danger today due to gusty winds and low relative humidity values.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a wind advisory from noon today until 6:00 a.m. Thursday for the following counties:

Franklin, Ripley, Dearborn, Ohio, Switzerland in Indiana
Carroll, Gallatin, Boone, Kenton in Kentucky
Hamilton County, Ohio

Strong winds will be possible this afternoon and tonight, both inside and outside of showers moving across the area. Winds of 20 to 30 MPH are expected with gusts up to 50 MPH.

Homeowners are encouraged to secure outdoor objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

The NWS cautions drivers to use extra caution, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle.

In addition, outdoor burning is not recommended, as conditions are favorable for rapid fire growth.
