Old North Dearborn Elementary Demolition Could Begin In Coming Weeks

Superintendent Andrew Jackson gave an update on the matter on the Super Chat podcast.

(St. Leon, Ind.) – Sunman-Dearborn Community School Superintendent Andrew Jackson anticipates demolition work will begin in the coming weeks at the old North Dearborn Elementary School.

Jackson gave an update on the demolition process on the latest episode of Super Chat, the official information podcast for Sunman-Dearborn Schools.

While speaking to host, Gary Puckett, Jackson said the school board approved a bid with a demolition company earlier this month.

The company could start stripping away contents at the old North Dearborn Elementary School within the next four or five weeks.

Another company will help with asbestos removal.

Jackson added that the demolition company’s bid came in around $285,000, which includes removing footers and pavement around the school.

The podcast also featured discussion on COVID-19 protocols and school property tax information.
