(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A new report looks at how hospitals are handling the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Department of Health and Human Services has provided facility-level data for hospital utilization on a weekly basis. The report includes all hospitals registered with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as of June 1.

Eagle Country 99.3 took a look at five area hospitals, including St. Elizabeth in Florence, Highpoint Health (now St. Elizabeth) in Lawrenceburg, Margaret Mary Health in Batesville, Carroll County Hospital in Carrollton, Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison and UC Medical Center in Cincinnati.

UC Medical Center, the largest of the six hospitals, has 457 beds. Of those beds, 371 are in-use for COVID-19 patients and non-COVID-19 patients. The total number of COVID patients currently stands at 134. Forty-three of those patients are in ICU.

St. Elizabeth Florence typically has 177 beds available. To date, 186 beds are in-use, 25 of which are occupied by COVID-19 patients. St. E's ICU is nearly full with 14 of the 18 beds in use. Four ICU patients are being treated for COVID-19.

St. Elizabeth Lawrenceburg, formally Highpoint Health, is nearly full. According to the report from HSS, 45 or 46 of the hospital's 54 beds are in use for COVID and non-COVID patients. All ICU beds are occupied, including four COVID-19 patients.

Twenty-six of 33 beds are in use at Margaret Mary Health in Batesville. Fifteen patients are being treated for COVID-19.

In Madison, Kings Daughters Hospital's six ICU beds are occupied by inpatients. Total bed usage is at less than 50 percent with 54 of 113 beds in use. Only 11 of the 53 patients are confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Carroll County Hospital has the least amount of patients with only four of 29 beds in use.

All data is for the week of November 27 through December 3.
