There was worry that rising transportation costs would eliminate some 8th grade students from attending the trip.

(Milan, Ind.) – The Milan American Legion has made a generous donation to help get students to Washington, D.C.

For Milan Middle School 8th graders, the annual trip to our nation’s capital is one of the biggest highlights of the school year.

With rising costs of motor coach transportation, the cost for the 2024 trip has increased.

Sponsors of the trip were concerned that the jump in cost would eliminate many of the students who anticipate only a small increase each year.

To ensure as many students as possible can enjoy the trip, the Milan American Legion donated $10,000 to offset the transportation cost increase.

“The Milan D.C. trip sponsors are so grateful to their local American Legion for their donation and show of support for our Milan students,” reads a statement from Milan Schools.
