Meth, Pot, Loaded Gun Found When Deputies Locate Wanted Man

(Brookville, Ind.) – A call about a wanted person driving around a Brookville Lake resort led to a couple being accused of dealing in methamphetamine.

Sheriff’s deputies were asked to investigate the call at Lake Shore Resort on Aspen Street on Wednesday, May 9. They found the suspect vehicle, a green Jeep Grand Cherokee. The driver, Gary W. Vaughn II, of Jamestown, Indiana, was arrested on a number of outstanding warrants.

A K-9 officer sniffed around and indicated there were drugs in the vehicle. A search led to the discovery of meth, marijuana, other controlled substances, and a loaded handgun.

A passenger in the car, Norma Kay Strunk, also of Jamestown, was taken into custody.

Both Vaughn, 29, and Strunk, 27, are now held in jail at the Franklin County Security Center facing a list of charges, including Dealing in Methamphetamine (level 3 felony), Possession of Methamphetamine (level 4 felony), Carrying a Firearm Without a License (level 5 felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance (level 6 felony),  Maintaining a Common Nuisance (level 6 felony), Possession of Marijuana (class A misdemeanor), and Possession of Paraphernalia (class A misdemeanor).

A level 3 felony carries a possible sentence of up to 16 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Vaughn and Strunk have been given bonds of $25,000 cash and surety.
