Volunteers are needed.
(Dearborn County, Ind.) - The next Dearborn County Anti-Litter Initiative (DCALI) roadside clean-up will be on the Indiana side of Sand Run on Saturday, April 12. At the same time, on the Ohio side of Sand Run, a clean-up organized by WeTHRIVE! in Whitewater Township will take place.
Sand Run in Indiana and Ohio will be closed to through traffic from 9 a.m. to noon to ensure the safety of volunteers.
Indiana volunteers will meet at 8:30 a.m. at Bright Elementary School for supplies and instructions. Bright Fire & EMS will transport volunteers to the Sand Run location. Ohio volunteers will meet at the intersection of Sand Run and Lawrenceburg Roads, near the billboard Tower of Green Acres Kayak, for supplies and instructions.
For updates on the April 12 clean-up, please visit the DCALI Facebook page at www.facebook.com/DearbornCountyAntiLitterInitiative.
If possible, please comment or send a message if interested in volunteering for either the Indiana or Ohio clean-up on Sand Run so there will be enough supplies.
This is the 10th year for the Dearborn County Anti-Litter Initiative. In 2024, a record number of volunteers participated, and clean-ups were completed in less time than allotted. These events are great opportunities for families and for student community-service requirements. Please note that minors must be accompanied by an adult.
The DCALI thanks Bright Fire & EMS, the Miller-York Fire Department, the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office and the Dearborn County Highway Department for their continued assistance. WeTHRIVE! in Whitewater Township thanks Green Acres Kayak Rental (providing supplies), the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department, the Whitewater Township Fire Department and Rumpke (litter removal).
Upcoming DCALI clean-ups scheduled so far for 2025 are May 3, State Line Hill; May 10, York Ridge Hill; June 14, Cole Lane; Sept. 13, Georgetown Rd. Updates will be posted at www.facebook.com/DearbornCountyAntiLitterInitiative.
