(Dearborn County, Ind.) – Kristie Gilb is heading home.

Gilb, a lifelong Dearborn County resident, has been in Houston, Texas since mid-October undergoing a stem cell transplant.

She was diagnosed in May of 2019 with Myelofibrosis (MF), which is a Myeloproliferative Neoplasm (MPN). The condition impacts bone marrow and the production of much needed cells.

In November, Gilb had stem cells infused after being selected for the life-saving transplant thanks to a donor and the Be the Match organization.

Gilb met with doctors this week to get results on the bone marrow biopsy and instructions for when she returns home. She will have to wait until at least next week to hear back the full results, but Gilb has been given the ok to return home.

Her fiancé, Thomas Bipes, tells Eagle Country 99.3 “Kristie wants to thank all of Kristie’s Krusader’s that have been following her and supporting her and for their thoughts and prayers during this difficult journey. She will continue her recover at home in Guilford.”
