Lifelong Friendship Resident & Longtime Firefighter Passes Away

James "Jimmy" Hyatt served as a member of the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department for more than 50 years.

(Friendship, Ind.) – The Friendship community is mourning the loss of a beloved community member. 

James “Jimmy” Hyatt passed away on Wednesday.

Hyatt was a lifelong resident of Friendship where he spent more than 50 years as a member of the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department. 

Aside from fighting fires and enjoying life in Friendship, Hyatt was a Special Deputy for the Ripley County Sheriff’s Department and a longtime board member of Southern Ripley County Emergency Life Squad Rescue 69.

Hyatt also served the community by working security at the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association’s annual shoot in Friendship.

Funeral arrangements for Hyatt have yet to be announced.
