This bill would ensure all of Indiana has a voice regarding the state’s economic development.

INDIANAPOLIS - State Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) has introduced a bill to propose changes to the criteria to appoint members of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) board. This bill would ensure the IEDC better represents and benefits all Indiana residents.

The bill would require nine members of the board, who are appointed by the governor, to reside in separate Indiana congressional districts. The governor is still able to appoint three additional members from anywhere in the state.

"This bill would ensure all of Indiana has a voice in our state’s economic development, and that the interests of both urban and rural areas are represented,” Leising said. “A state corporation funded with taxpayer dollars should represent the whole state."

Leising also filed an agricultural bill this week dealing with regulations on grain producers and the Indiana Grain Buyers and Warehouse Licensing Agency.

As the 2025 legislative session kicks off, Leising encourages residents of Senate District 42 to contact her with any questions or comments they may have. Leising can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Leising or by phone at 800-382-9467.
