(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - During a recent fundraising campaign, Southeast Indiana businesses and local community members stepped up financially to invest in Lawrenceburg Young Life and teens in the community. Over $31,000 dollars was raised in just over 30 days, largely due to the generosity of a local small business owner offering a match donation and other businesses joining in.

Young Life committee chair, Sarah McMullen believes this is all part of living in a small town like Lawrenceburg, “The support shows that we have a community that wants to work together for a greater cause. That we care enough to invest in the next generation.”

Lawrenceburg Young Life, active locally for over 11 years also includes WyldLife at Greendale Middle School and soon, Young Life ONE which will be active at the Dearborn County Juvenile Detention Center. Believing that every kid deserves caring adults in their lives, volunteers with the Young Life work to build active and meaningful relationships with teens.

McMullen is excited about the work of Young Life volunteers and what the impact of the recent fundraising efforts and upcoming opportunities could mean for Lawrenceburg and surrounding areas. “We could expand into the South Dearborn school district and strongly step into the mission we have been called to at the detention center. Supporting an organization that cares about youth is one of the most impactful ways to positively impact a community.”

Upcoming fundraising events for Young Life in Lawrenceburg include a trivia night scheduled for Friday, Feb. 25 and the annual banquet in late April. For more information about Lawrenceburg Young Life or how to take part, visit lburg.younglife.org.
