(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A Lawrenceburg man remains at-large after being charged with attempted murder.

Dearborn and Ohio County Prosecuting Attorney Lynn Deddens announced today that Daniel Widener, 45, has been charged with Attempted Murder, Attempted Resisting Law Enforcement, Attempted Aggravated Battery, and Attempted Criminal Recklessness after he attempted to run over a Dearborn County Sheriff Deputy.

Widener came under investigation on March 8 for his alleged involvement in a large methamphetamine trafficking case.

On March 15, a warrant was issued for Widener’s arrest. That same day, Dearborn County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop Widener’s vehicle, but he fled at a high rate of speed.

During the chase, a sheriff’s deputy attempted to intercept Widener by stopping his vehicle and pulling his duty weapon on the oncoming car.

Widener, who was traveling at speeds exceeding 80 MPH, sped towards the deputy nearly striking him and his cruiser.

Prosecutor Deddens said Widener continued to flee at a high rate of speed through the City of Lawrenceburg, including the school zone. He eventually traveled into Kentucky.

Widener is still at-large and is considered dangerous.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office at 812-537-8700.
