Lawrenceburg High School Recognized During Early College Endorsement Celebration

Lawrenceburg High School was honored for being an Early College High School since 2013.

(Lawrenceburg, IN) - Lawrenceburg High School was recognized during an Early College Endorsement Celebration held by the Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning at the University of Indianapolis on June 4.

Early College High Schools are designed to increase college success, especially for students who have traditionally been underrepresented in higher education. For the 2021 cohort, 76% of Early College graduates from endorsed Early College High Schools went on to college, compared to 53% of Indiana students.

Lawrenceburg High School was honored for being an Early College High School since 2013.

Lawrenceburg High School principal, Mr. Jared Leiker, said, “We are honored to be endorsed by the CELL for over 10 consecutive years now! Ensuring that LHS students have the opportunity to begin pursuing their post-secondary education while in high school has remained a high priority and we are proud of how many of our students take full advantage of this opportunity. This school year, LHS celebrated 188 graduates, 34 of whom received their associate’s degrees and 43 of whom received their Indiana College Core Certification.”

Mr. Leiker continued, “LHS students also earned 32 Ivy Tech certifications this school year in fields such as business administration, dementia care/certified nursing aid, electrocardiograph tech, electrical, machine tool, pharmacy tech, software development, and welding.”

To be designated as an endorsed Early College High School, schools must offer students the opportunity to graduate from high school with a high school diploma and the Indiana College Core, an associate degree, a technical credential, or fifteen or more dual credits.

Currently, there are 59 high schools endorsed by CELL.
