(Colerain Township, Oh.) – A fire caused over a million dollars in damage to a storage facility in Colerain Township over the weekend.

The blaze broke out at the Silo XL Storage facility near Interstate 74 on Sunday morning around 10:15

Hamilton County Communications Center received multiple calls stating that the fire was already through the roof and the entire building looked as if it was on fire.

According to a news release from Colerain Fire, the blaze was fought entirely in a defensive mode due to the advanced stage of the fire. Several lanes of Interstate 74 had to be closed while firefighters battled the blaze. Over two miles of hose was used to bring the fire under control.

After several hours the fire was completely extinguished.

Initial reports of possible entrapment were investigated but no injuries were reported.

The Colerain Fire Investigative Unit remained on the scene into Monday morning to monitor the building for any continued hot spots.

Investigators are continuing their efforts to determine a cause.

According to the State of Ohio Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire caused over $1.5 million in damages.

Agencies assisting at the scene included Whitewater Township, Green Township, Miami Township, Crosby Township, Ross Township, City of Harrison, City of Mt. Healthy, City of Cheviot and the Greater Cincinnati Hazardous Materials Unit.
