Ky. Lawmakers Considering Smoking Ban

(Frankfort, Ky.) - Indiana lawmakers passed a new smoking ban last week, now could Kentucky be next?

The Kentucky House Health and Welfare Committee postponed a vote on the bill Monday. The legislation is expected to pass the panel Tuesday or Wednesday despite having been delayed twice as the 12-member committee has not had a quorum.

The bill would prohibit smoking in nearly all businesses including bars and restaurants. The ban would extend to private homes if those homes are used for child care or adult daycare.

Some local government in Kentucky, such as Louisville and Lexington, have already adopted their own smoke-free laws.
