(Boone County, Ky.) - Boone County clerk Kenny Brown died of apparent natural causes on Friday, March 8.

Florence police were called to do a welfare check at the 53-year-old’s home. A friend who had been on the phone with Brown asked police to check on him after believing he was going through a medical problem and the phone disconnected.

Officers responding to Brown’s home found him dead.

Brown’s medical history included a heart-attack he suffered on Election Night in November 2018, the same night he won re-election as county clerk with 70 percent of the vote.

Serving as clerk since 2010, Brown is recognized in Boone County as an innovator who worked tirelessly to improve and expand the Clerk’s Office services.

Judge Executive Gary Moore and county commissioners Cathy Flaig, Charlie Kenner and Jesse Brewer released a statement:

“Our hearts are saddened to hear the tragic news about the passing of County Clerk, Kenny Brown. Our thoughts and prayers go out Kenny’s family, his dedicated staff, and friends during this difficult time.”
