(Osgood, Ind.) - Jac-Cen-Del Community Schools' new superintendent appears to be an internal hire.

Jac-Cen-Del High School Principal Ryan Middleton is the pick to be the school corporation’s next top administrator, according to a news release. The school board voted Monday to enter into contract negotiations with Middleton.

The contract could get final approval on January 28, with Middleton then officially stepping into the role of superintendent on February 1. He would replace former superintendent Tim Taylor, who resigned at the end of last school year.

“I am very honored to be given this opportunity to lead the JCDCS district,” Middleton said.

“JCDCS and its community have been very welcoming and kind to myself and my family. It is humbling, yet exciting,” he continued. “Working with the community and serving our students and families allows me to see the greater picture of what we are trying to accomplish at the district; inspiring lifelong learning and becoming productive citizens.”

Middleton began his education career 12 years ago as an English teacher at Columbus North High School. Middleton has four years of previous experience as a superintendent at a school district in Missouri. He left that job to return his family to Indiana two years ago.

“It was not an easy decision, but with a nine-year-old and a five-year-old it was time for us to be able to interact with our families more than a once a year basis,” he said.

Middleton said he understands the complexities that come from the central office and looks forward to building upon his experience towards becoming a better leader for the district and community.

JCD’s new super earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University-Purdue University of Indianapolis and his Master of Secondary Education degree from Indiana University. He has an Education Specialist degree from the University of Central Missouri and is completing his Doctorate from William Woods University.

He and his wife, Elizabeth, and their two children recently moved to Greensburg. Their children attend Jac-Cen-Del Elementary School.
