(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Ivy Tech Community College selected 18 adjunct faculty members from across the state to receive the tenth annual Adjunct Faculty Award for Excellence in Instruction. The Gerald I. Lamkin Award, named after the former Ivy Tech President, recognizes an adjunct faculty member who exhibits excellence in instruction and represents the mission of the College.

Margaret Stewart, an instructor for Lawrenceburg’s campus, was among the 18 faculty members honored as a recipient of this year’s award in a virtual statewide ceremony. Stewart began her career at Ivy Tech in spring of 2000. During her time at Ivy Tech, she has taught courses ranging from Basic Skills through Finite Skills and Statistics. She currently teaches Quantitative Reasoning.

“I’m very appreciative of Margaret’s twenty years of service to the students at our Lawrenceburg and Batesville campuses. Margaret served as the Vice Chancellor of Student Services for the Legacy Southeast Region until her retirement in 2014 and has continued serving Ivy Tech students as an adjunct professor in our Math Department. She’s highly deserving of this prestigious award for her many years of service to Ivy Tech.” said Mark Graver, Chancellor of Ivy Tech’s Lawrenceburg campus.

“Margaret takes a genuine interest in all students and encourage them to reach their maximum potential both in the classroom and in their lives. She has also been an incredible mentor to many faculty and staff at Ivy Tech.” said Matthew B. Probst, Vice-Chancellor of Academic Affairs.
