ISP-Versailles Trooper Promoted to Detective

(Versailles, Ind.) - A seven-year veteran of Indiana State Police-Versailles Post is being promoted. 

ISP Superintendent announced Thursday that Trooper Derek Eggers has been elevated to detective. 

Detective Eggers is a 2010 graduate of Columbus North High School, and a 2017 graduate from IUPUC. Following college, Eggers worked as a corrections officer with Bartholomew County for over six years before being hired by Indiana State Police in 2016. 

Throughout his career, he has been a Field Training Officer, Background Investigator, and a member of the Marijuana Eradication Team.  He has additionally worked the Indiana State Police summer camps since 2017 and has been the director of the Columbus Law Camp since 2021.

Det. Eggers competed in the competitive Indiana State Police promotion process consisting of written testing, interview, supervisor recommendations, and superintendent’s review which resulted in him being promoted to the detective’s position.

As detective, Eggers will be assigned to conducting criminal investigations in the Indiana State Police-Versailles District, which consists of Bartholomew, Dearborn, Decatur, Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Jennings, Ohio, Ripley, and Switzerland Counties.
