(Versailles, Ind.) - The Indiana State Police Versailles District is welcoming a new squad leader.

On Monday, Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter announced that Zachariah Ruble is being promoted to Sergeant and will serve as the District Squad Leader in Versailles.

Ruble is a 1999 graduate of Southwestern (Hanover) High School. Following high school, Ruble joined the U.S. Marines, where he served five years and achieved the rank of Sergeant.

After his service, Ruble graduated from the 65th Indiana State Police Academy in April 2006. Since then, he has served in the ISP Seymour District, the Versailles District and as a watch officer in the Indiana Fusion Center.

Versailles District Commander Lt. Paul Adams recently stated, “Sgt. Ruble is deserving of his new position as a supervisor with the Indiana State Police.  His experience in the Marines and Indiana State Police Career has prepared him to lead troopers at the Versailles District. He truly represents the values of the Indiana State Police and I believe his experience and knowledge will be an asset in his new role.”

Ruble is a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon, Honor Guard and a field training officer. He is certified as a Control Tactics, Taser and Firearms Instructor, in addition to time as a core instructor at the Indiana State Police Academy.

While he’s not serving and protecting the community, Ruble is still involved with the community as a football coach for the Seymour Youth Football League.

Sgt. Ruble’s new responsibilities include supervising and evaluating a squad of troopers who patrol the Versailles District.
