ISP Versailles Detectives Arrest Three On Neglect, Criminal Confinement Charges

Detectives say a 22-year-old female was physically harmed and confined inside a Butlerville home in 2019 and early 2020.

(Versailles, Ind.) – Three Jennings County residents have been arrested by detectives with the Indiana State Police - Versailles District after a seven-month investigation.

The investigation began in February 2020 when Indiana State Police were notified that a 22-year-old female had been physically harmed and confined inside the Butlerville home of John E. Staples and Rose-Kathryn F. Staples in 2019 and early 2020.

Detectives determined that the victim had also allegedly been neglected and confined to a strait jacket by her caretaker Trudy N. Henry, 47, of North Vernon.

All three have been taken into custody and incarcerated at the Jennings County Jail in North Vernon.

John Staples, 54, is charged with one count of Neglect of a Dependent (Level 5 Felony). Rose-Kathryn Staples, 54, and Henry are each charged with Neglect of Dependent (Level 5 Felony) and Criminal Confinement (Level 6 Felony).
