(Vevay, Ind.) - In partnership with Crawford, Murphy, and Tilly, the Indiana Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting on Wednesday, October 18, for the proposed S.R. 56 and S.R.156 Pavement Rehabilitation Project in Vevay.

The hearing will take place at Switzerland County High School in the Cafeteria (1020 West Main Street Vevay, IN 47043) and will provide an opportunity for the public to interact with the project team and receive the latest updates for the project. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. to allow attendees time to view displays and talk with project personnel prior to a presentation that will begin at 6:00 p.m.

The purpose of this project is to extend the service life of the roadway by improving pavement conditions. The proposed project will begin along S.R. 56 approximately 0.19 miles west of S.R. 129 and extend through Ferry Street and onto S.R. 156 to the Vevay Cemetery.

During construction S.R. 56 and S.R. 156 will be closed to through traffic, while local traffic and pedestrian access will be maintained. INDOT will coordinate with emergency services, local school corporation officials and project stakeholders to ensure potential disruptions are minimized. The current construction cost is approximately $11 million.
