Indiana's 2024 gubernatorial race is expected to be a crowded one.
INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Senator Mike Braun is throwing his name in the race to be the next governor of Indiana.
Braun filed paperwork on Wednesday and is expected to make an official announcement about his candidacy soon.
Currently, Braun serves as a U.S. Senator. He was elected in 2018 defeating Democratic incumbent Joe Donnelly. His run at governor will open his seat in the U.S. Senate vacant.
As far as the gubernatorial race is concerned, it’s expected to be a crowded Republican primary.
Braun joins Eric Doden on the Republican ticket. Doden, who announced his candidacy in 2021, officially kicked off his campaign for governor in June. He has served as the president of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation and as CEO of Greater Fort Wayne Inc.
Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch is expected to run for governor as well.
Current Governor Eric Holcomb is term limited and will be leaving the Statehouse in 2024.
