(Indianapolis, Ind.) – Hoosiers are making strides when it comes to the amount of building permits issued for the month of June.
The U.S. Census Bureau released statewide totals for building permits issued in June, and the reported numbers show 1,826 single-family permits pulled. This is up 42% from the month of May when just 1,284 permits were pulled.
Permits pulled in June are up 23% from the 1,490 permits pulled in June of 2019.
The 8,100 single family permits for 2020 are up 5% compared to the first six months of 2019.
“Applications for home construction permits have made a very solid rebound in June," said Indiana Builders Association CEO Rick Wajda. "A huge increase from permit pulls in May and June of last year show us that home buyers are ready to take advantage of Indiana’s historically low interest rates. The steps Indiana builders are taking to promote home building both virtually and safely in person are paying off and showing that the home building industry is able to adapt and conform to these unforeseen challenges we have faced with COVID-19."
