IDEM Issues Air Action Day for Five SEI Counties

Smoke from ongoing wildfires in Canada continue to impact portions of the U.S.

INDIANAPOLIS - Smoke from ongoing Canadian wildfires are impacting the air quality throughout portions of the United State. 

On Wednesday, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) declared an Air Action Day, in effect until 11:59 p.m. Thursday. 

The Air Action Day has been issued for Dearborn, Franklin, Ohio, Ripley and Switzerland counties. 

In addition, the Southwest Ohio Air Quality Agency has issued an Air Quality Advisory Hamilton County in Ohio, and Boone, Campbell and Kenton counties in Kentucky.

Fine particulate levels are expected to be in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range. Active children and adults, and people with respiratory disease, such as asthma should limit prolonged outdoor exposure.
