(Aurora, Ind.) - The Hillforest Historical Foundation has announce the appointment of Andrew Young as its new Director.

Young brings a wealth of experience in public history, museum management, and historical research, making him a perfect fit to lead Hillforest into an exciting future.

Young holds a Master’s degree in Public History from Northern Kentucky University and is the author of two nonfiction history books. His professional experience includes serving as the Director of the Ohio County Historical Society and working as a docent at Hillforest earlier in his career, giving him a deep appreciation for the museum’s legacy.

His appointment comes at a momentous time as Hillforest celebrates 170 years of history. Built in 1855, Hillforest was the home of Thomas and Sarah Gaff, a family known for their entrepreneurial ventures in distilleries, breweries, jewelry stores, silver mines, steamboats, railroads, and turnpikes. Today, the beautifully preserved mansion continues to stand as a Historic National Landmark, offering visitors a glimpse into the past.

“With Andrew's education, skills, and experience, he will be a wonderful addition to our historical museum,” said Judy Ullrich, President. “The Board of Directors welcome his enthusiasm and commitment to work with our dedicated staff and volunteers at Hillforest.”

Young is eager to engage the community in celebrating Hillforest’s milestone year, expanding educational programs, and ensuring the mansion remains a cherished piece of Indiana history for generations to come.
